Durga puja signifies the victory of good over evil. Durga is known by the name of Shakti, she is the goddess of strength and holds various weapons in her ten hands.
To me, Durga puja is the festival of joy. In this festival, Maa Durga visits her parents every year. She brings us happiness and joy. We buy new clothes, visit temples, meet friends and relatives, pray to goddess Durga and eat prashadh.
After Bijoya Dashami, Maa Durga leaves her parents for a year. She goes back to Kailash with her family. Bijoya Dashami includes processions to a river or ocean front that carries clay statues of Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh and Kartik. After that, we take blessings from elders. Also, we prepare various types of sweets, dishes and desserts. We enjoy with our friends.
We say in Bengali “Ashche bochor abar hobe”.
